Early Life
Onyia Chidiebere, better known by his stage name Maazi Ochiagha, hails from Obioma in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. He is the eldest of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. John Onyia and is currently 29 years old.
Educational Background
Maazi Ochiagha began his primary education at CPS Obioma and continued to CHS Obioma for his secondary schooling. He is currently pursuing higher education at Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Early Career
Maazi Ochiagha embarked on his music career in 2022. His musical journey began in 2013 when he started playing the keyboard in Lagos. He initially recorded two gospel tracks, which he chose not to distribute. After returning to Obioma in 2017, he continued to play the keyboard in his local church.
Driven by a profound passion for music and a belief in its power to amplify voices and deliver messages, Maazi Ochiagha sought to use his music as a platform for expression. While initially exploring hip-hop, he was advised that his distinct Igbo-influenced style suited Igbo highlife music better. Embracing this feedback, he delved into Igbo highlife and found his niche, which began opening doors for him in his community and beyond.
